It just wasn't meant to be

At least, that's what my mom said when I told her that London is pretty much a no-go at this point. I don't know why that irritated me so much, but it did. I love my mother to death, but I was pretty pissed at that point so I was just looking for a little sympathy for my big let down. Monica helped me on that, though.
So, yeah, it looks like London is out of the question. I'm bummed, but I had prepared for this. So, I'll look at the bright side. If I stay here and work as much as possible, maybe I'll be able to get my finances back in order. Or, I could still take full time classes here, since I'm allready registered. We'll see what my advisor says when I go see her tomorrow. She's not a big fan of her students taking summer classes (neither am I, really), and I don't see myself concentrating too hard. Hmm...
In other news, I made it home for the weekend, for Mother's Day. Yesterday was pretty nice, we all got together at my aunt's and ate some food... lots of food... too much food. I also had a small fiasco with my car... yes, another one. I got my car back a few weeks ago, power steering fixed, new thermostat, the works. Well, it's been leaking coolant, so my dad figured out that my water pump was going out, and fortunately it's easy to fix. All right, car's right as rain now... yeah...
Okay, mechanically, it's great, my dad's the man... but as I was cruising down I-75 I noticed what looked like the hood of my trunk flapping in the breeze. So, I pulled over to investigate and discovered that the top half of the "spoiler" had come loose and was doing just that, flapping in the breeze. So, I yanked the whole thing off, stuck it in my back seat and headed to my sister's house to see if my brother in law could help. No one was home and they don't have cell phones, so I waited around for about 45 minutes until they finally showed. Thankfully I had a satellite radio and some beautiful weather to keep me company, otherwise I would have been pissed.
Anyway, they finally showed up and my bro-in-law says that they only thing he can do is glue it back on... but he doesn't have any glue. The man has everything... except glue. So I was forced to leave the offending piece in his shop and take me and my ghetto-mobile back home to Columbus. I figure the only thing more ghetto than having a piece missing from the body of my car is actually carrying that piece around in the back seat with me. I watch Pimp My Ride, Xhibit is always busting on people for carring their bumper around in the back.
To add on to my ghetto/hooptie car is my hooptie phone. I never liked this phone to begin with, so I guess it got tired of the lack of love and decided to get back at me by snapping a hinge. Now it's hanging on by one hinge, and the outside display doesn't come on. So, I have three options: a) pay the $250 outright for a new phone and wait for the mail in rebate, b) try to put up with this mess until August, when my 18 months with this phone is up, so I can just redeem the instant rebate, or c) I can just pay the $50 deductible and claim the insurance, and get a piece of refurbished crap of equal value.
Those football tickets last week put me out of business for a while, so it looks like I might have to hold out til August, hopefully the phone does too.
