I hate campus when it rains.
Now, I like the rain... from inside my apartment or house, where I'm completely dry and can enjoy the tapping sound. But when you're trying to walk down high street and dodge the traffic-splash, it's not fun. There's something up with the storm drains on High St. that even the lightest drizzle turns it into a raging river. So, if you manage to stay out of the way of the traffic-spray (and I'm convinced that the drivers plow through at 45 mph on purpose, just to see how many pedestrians they can drench), you're still screwed if you have to actually cross the street. On days like today, when we've had a significant downpour, the shallow areas are hard to come by. If crossing High St was like playing Frogger before, it's even funnier after a rain storm. All you see is a bunch of people trying to hop a few feet from the curb to try to avoid the ankle deep streams running along the sides of the street. I'm one of the unfortunate souls who just isn't tall enough to make it, so one foot landed right in the middle of the brown river. Now that foot makes a soggy squishy sound while the other is completely dry. Hmph.
PS Carrie and I ate at Benevolence Restaurant on Wednesday. ; )
